Chico Kat\u00adsube is a dance impro\u00adviser, chore\u00ado\u00adg\u00adra\u00adpher and teacher from Osaka, Japan. She received her B.Ed. and M.A. degrees at the Dance Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Divi\u00adsion of Ochan\u00ado\u00admizu Uni\u00adver\u00adsity in Tokyo, where she stud\u00adied Mod\u00adern Dance and Chore\u00adog\u00adra\u00adphy. From 1990 to 94, she stud\u00adied and danced in New York City. In 1997, she began Con\u00adtact Impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion activ\u00adity in Japan under the influ\u00adence of Nancy Stark Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2000, she founded C.I.co., with Makiko Ito. Since then she has been a lead\u00ading fig\u00adure in teach\u00ading, orga\u00adniz\u00ading and per\u00adform\u00ading Con\u00adtact Impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion in Tokyo and through\u00adout Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2005, 2007 and 2012, she par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpated and taught inten\u00adsive work\u00adshops in Con\u00adtact Fes\u00adti\u00adval in Israel. In the sum\u00admer of 2006, she taught a work\u00adshop in the Mag\u00adpie Col\u00adlec\u00adtive Work\u00adshop and per\u00adformed with the Mag\u00adpie Music and Dance in Ams\u00adter\u00addam. And in 2011, she par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpated in Con\u00adtact Fes\u00adti\u00adval Kuala Lumpur, i\u2013 dance Taipei, where she taught and per\u00adformed with Shoko Kashima. And she has been a seed mem\u00adber of AIAE in South Korea from 2008. In 2008, she founded the CIFJ (Con\u00adtact Impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion Fes\u00adti\u00adval Japan) and con\u00adtin\u00adues to orga\u00adnize and cre\u00adate the inter\u00adna\u00adtional CIfes\u00adti\u00adval to exchange cul\u00adture, peo\u00adple, essence of CI in Japan. Now she is study\u00ading and inves\u00adti\u00adgat\u00ading together impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion dance with Shoko Kashima. In 2010, \u201cChico and Shoko\u201d par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpated in ECITE in Fin\u00adland and AIAE in Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has been a fac\u00adulty of some uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties in Tokyo for more than 10 years. In 2012, she moved from Tokyo to Kagoshima. With Shoko Kashima, they focused on explor\u00ading and inte\u00adgrat\u00ading Asian cul\u00adture into impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion, as well as to estab\u00adlish the art com\u00admu\u00adnity in the coun\u00adtry\u00adside in Kagoshima pre\u00adfec\u00adture.
