i-Dance (HK) Festival 2024
This is a dance festival that is entirely privately led and self-financed, 2024 will be the 20th anniversary of i-Dance Festival. The theme of i-Dance festival this year is “The Mountain”. Hong Kong is surrounded by many mountains and sea with little flat land. Y- Space will lead participants to Tai Mo Shan, the highest place in Hong Kong. We will develop a series of activities in and around The Mountain!

October – Dance in Motion…! You Dance I Dance!

i-Dance Festival (HK) continue to connect Hong Kong with other countries through improvisation, workshops, research week and Dancing All Around. International guests included Chris AIKEN and Angie HAUSER from the United State and XIAO Zairean from China. Online “intrDancing All Around” was also first introduced.

Invention and conservation
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2017
International dancers were invited this year, including Katie Duck (Netherland), Kirstie Simson(UK), Xiao Ke × Zi Han (China). Apart from performing in Solo and Improv, they also led workshops and participated in Dancing All Around.The theme “Invention and conservation” aim to carry on the histories. Through probing into the development and archive of local dance, we were able to project forecast on the future of Hong Kong dance.

Tradition and Technology
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2016
In i-Dance Lab, young artists are invited to present new potential of combining dance and technology. Meanwhile, forums were also held to dig into how traditional arts and technology and bring new opportunities in the future.This year, apart from the regular Opening Gala, workshops, forum, “Solo and Improv”, performances, “Dancing All Around” and “Dance Under the Sky”, new programme such as Open Platform were introduced. Featured artists including Wen Hui (China), Helen Lai (HK) and Pichet KLUNCHUN (Thailand) were invited to encourage dance lovers learning more about their artistic concept and stories.

“Dancing All Around” could fully show its potential
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2015
A series of “Dancing All Around” performances were performed in Hong Kong Island (Wan Chai) and New Territories (Kam Tin) in two consecutive weekends. The performances in two locations were highly distinctive with their own charm. Afterwards, the highlight of “Dancing All Around” were detached from the environment and performed in Kwai Tsing Theatre, resulting in “From Wan Chai to Kam Tin”, a dance exhibition. Other programme also carry on i-Dance Festival’s spirit, including improvisation performances, New Dance Platform, workshops and discussion panels etc.

Animal and Instinct
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2014
i-Dance Festival 2014 lasted for a month with animal as the theme. The programme varieties kept growing, new programme include 60mins i-Dance+ by 60 dancers from all over the world, dance competition, New Dance Platform, over 50 new workshops, forum, Dance Video Marathon and multiple Improvisation Land.

Expanding to global level
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2013
With Y-Theatre as the main venue, we invited renowned American contact improvisation dancer Nancy Stark Smith in the Festival and held a series of masterclass and Underscore workshops. Other programme include Exploring Dance and Movement Workshop, improvisation performance in “Improvisation Land”, and Dance, Multi-media & Improvisation Research Week. Some programme were live streamed on Internet.

Besides performances, workshops and a wide variety of programmes, how to establish an Asian i-Dance Festival network was a discussion focus. The founder of i-Dance Festival Taiwan, Japan and South Korea gathered and pictured how the network can foster cooperation and development.

i-Dance Festival “Dance All Around” for the first time
i-Dance (HK) Festival 2011
The one- month long Festival first introduced “Dancing All Around” as a regular programme. The programme encompass both international perspective and local elements. It brings Hong Kong to international dance lovers’ attention while highlighting the relationship between community, environment and dance.

Y-Space has started organising i-Dance Festival

The theme was “Solo and Improv”. Artists from China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Australia and Netherland etc come together and delivered a solo and improvisation performance. Extra programmes such as workshops, dance video streaming, environmental dance, post-performance talk were incoporated.
