A graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2011 with first class honours, He Yong-ning has received the Kwok Scholarship, HSBC Charitable Foundation Mainland China Study Programme Scholarship and the William Au Arts Education Scholarship.
In 2003, she was the gold medalist in the Beijing New Dancer Competition for her solo dance Early Snow. Her participation in the ensemble Balang Drum and Fragrant Harvest were awarded gold and silver medals respectively at the inaugural Guangdong Lingnan Dance Competition. In 2013, Hesitate, which she choreographed and performed as a solo dance, received the Hong Kong Bauhinia Cup International Dance Invitation Competition’s gold medal and “best female dancer” award. In 2014, her solo dance received the silver award at the Shenzhen Creative Dance Competition.
After joining the Hong Kong Dance Company in 2012, He Yong-ning was an instructor for the Youth and Children’s Troupes as well as outreach education programmes. She has performed and conducted cultural exchange in dance festivals in Italy, the London Contemporary Dance School and the 2015 Tokyo Dance Festival.
