Yvette was trained in Chinese dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Upon graduation, she joined the City Contemporary Dance Company. In 1993, she performed solo dance work Awakenings in a Dream by Mui Cheuk-yin in the Japan International Dance Festival. In 1996, she participated in the Re: Orient Dance Festival in London. In 1995, she joined DanceArt Hong Kong, touring with the Company to Taiwan, Germany and the United States. She debuted her work,
Remembering at the Asian Contemporary Dance Festival in New York. She choreographed and performed in The Good Woman of Szechwan, Hong Kong Arts Festival 1998. She has performed in most DanceArt’s production such as Unreachable Distance, Shattered Shackles, Tea Break, Lament of the Exile, In Search of Hui Sin.
Yvette has also acted as a choreographer, her works including ContemWAVE Series: A Little Bit Salty, Community Cultural Ambassador Dreaming a Dream with Chagall (2009) and Ahead of Avant-garde (2011) respectively. She performed the main role Fan-yi in Thunderstorm (2013 Singapore Re-run) by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio. Her recent work M-cident co-choreographed with Louis Huang received the Hong Kong Dance Award 2014 “Outstanding Independent Dance Production”.
